
Tunisian President-elect Beji Caid Essebsi took the oath of office before the House of People's Representatives (HPR) here on Wednesday.
Addressing the house on the occasion, the Tunisian president announced that the country's democratic transition was over today, and vowed to set a top priority to security, democracy and multiplicity.
He also promised that all components of the Tunisian society would be involved in the political process with a view to maintaining national unity in the country.
"There is no future for Tunisia without national consensus and reconciliation," Essebsi said, adding that he would seek to achieve integration with Gulf, Arab and Muslim nations. (end) The oath-taking ceremony was attended by interim Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa and his cabinet members, secretaries general of political parties and national organizations as well as national figures and presidents of national bodies.
