Federal Supreme Court
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The State Security Department at the Federal Supreme Court today reserved a case of the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood in the UAE, for ruling on 6th June.

The defendants are 15 Yemeni nationals ad four Emiratis accused of establishing a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in the UAE.

The Federal Supreme Court heard the pleadings from the defence lawyers, who called for acquittal of their clients and dropping of charges against them. They cited that their clients were innocent.

The defendants face several charges, including the collection of donations and funds without prior authorisation from the competent authority, and joining the illegal organisation in the UAE, with intention to topple the government.

The court also heard a number of cases related to state security in the presence of a number of media representatives and members of the civil society organisations in the UAE.
