At least seven people were killed and 67 others injured in battles between Presidential Guard Crops and the Houthi gunmen near the Presidential Palace on Monday, Minister of Health Dr. Riyadh Yassin said.
"The hospitals in the capital city have been battling since the early hours of the day to save the lives of the large number of wounded people," the minister told reporters.
Yassin expected the death toll to rise further due to the sporadic fighting which forced the closure of many key streets in the capital city.
The joint security commission has approved a ceasefire as of 4:30 p.m. and deployed technical teams to oversee the truce between the army and the Houthi militiamen.
