
A fire broke out here on Sunday in a basement of one of the residential buildings in the district of Batha'a Quraish in Makkah.
The official spokesman of the General Administration of Civil Defense Captain Naif Al-Sharif said that the fire was brought under control in a short period.
He explained that the civil defense teams rushed immediately to the scene of the fire and evacuated residents and extinguished the fire.
He said that the basement contained a quantity of used furniture which was stored in a wrong manner; indication that because of the intensity and the nature of the fumes of burned materials all seven members of the family in the building suffered from suffocation and were transferred to Al-Noor Specialist Hospital for treatment, stressing that they are in a stable condition.
