
The Consular Sector of the Foreign Ministry is following up the case of 12 Egyptians arrested by Turkish authorities while they were trying to cross into Syria to join the terrorist Daesh group.
The 12 people, including three children, belong to one family, were arrested in Adana city, the Egyptian Consulate in Istanbul said.
The Consular Sector said it demanded more details about the case and the nature of the charges pressed against the family.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Hisham el-Naqib said that the Turkish court concerned will decide today whether to deport the Egyptians or to keep them.
He warned against traveling to the areas of conflicts or joining banned groups.
