Egypt's Foreign Ministry has urged Egyptian nationals in the Belgian capital Brussels and suburbs to exercise the maximum degree of caution and avoid unnecessary presence in crowded areas including airports and train stations to maintain their safety.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday urged Egyptian citizens to contact the Egyptian embassy in case of any risks and to also continue communication with their relatives in Egypt.
Belgium media reports said 35 people were killed and 135 wounded in twin attacks on Brussels airport and a rush-hour metro train in the Belgian capital on Tuesday, triggering security alerts across western Europe and bringing some cross-border transport to a halt.
The blasts at the airport and metro station occurred four days after the arrest in Brussels of a suspected participant in November militant attacks in Paris that killed 130 people.
