
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed on Monday that the establishment of a joint Arab force in accordance with Arab consensus is "important."
Abbas' remarks were made after he received a letter from Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi related to the formation of a joint Arab force and the anticipated signing by the state of Palestine on the protocol of establishing it.
The Palestinian state-run news agency WAFA reported that Egyptian President al-Sisi had agreed on Thursday with Saudi leaders on the necessity of the establishment of a joint Arab force.
A convention for the Arab League foreign and defense ministers is scheduled to be held in Cairo on Aug. 27 to sign on the protocol of forming the joint Arab force.
The last Arab Summit held in Egypt in March agreed on the principle of forming a joint Arab force, where Arab states can join and protect the national Arab security.
