
The 9th Forum of UAE Ambassadors and Heads of Missions Abroad kicked off yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, and in the presence of Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The two-day long event comes within the keenness of the MoFA to boost communication and interaction among the UAE envoys abroad to exchange views on the latest regional and international issues as well as discussing issues pertaining to the foreign policy.
Dr. Gargash delivered a key inaugural speech in which he commended the efforts of ambassadors abroad and their diligent work to support the UAE economic and political interests, wishing them the best to continue discharging their functions.
He added that the annual Forum of UAE Ambassadors and Heads of Missions Abroad "Is a platform and an opportunity for interaction and cooperation between the UAE ambassadors and different institutions to strengthen coordination and cooperation, and to further upgrade the UAE diplomatic tools.
Among others present on the first day were: Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, Adnan Amin, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Mohammed Al Hammadi, CEO of Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAE University, Maqsoud Kruse, CEO of Hedayah Centre and Ibrahim Al Abed, Director-General of National Media Centre.
On the first day, the forum discussed the following issues: Review of UAE relations with Europe, America and Africa, a session on the extremism and its challenges to the region and the world, UAE foreign policy and future of energy in the UAE.
