Palestine, Yemen and Iraq announced that Friday, July 17, is the first day of Eidual Fitr (Lesser Bairam).
In Palestine, Mufti of Al Quds Sheikh Mohamed Hussein said moon-sighting committees were able to observe the crescent of Shawwal month of the Arabic lunar Hijri calendar this year.
This means that today is the last day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan and that tomorrow is the first of Shawwal, he said.
The same was announced in Yemen and Iraq.
Earlier in the day, Egypt's Darul Iftaa announced that Friday is the first day of Eidul Fitr.
