
Thousands of people in a village in Gharbia, north of Cairo, attended on Saturday the funeral of an army officer who was killed in North Sinai.
Captain Ahmed Hussain Gouda was shot in a firefight with terrorists. He succumbed later to his wounds at a hospital in Arish, North Sinai.
The mourners shouted anti-Muslim Brotherhood slogans during the funeral. They expressed support to the Armed Forces.
The army has launched a full-scale operation to remove terrorists in North Sinai. Scores of militants have been killed or arrested so far in the campaign.
