Gas leak explosion kills 1 in Riyadh restaurant

Media Spokesman of the Directorate General of Civil Defense in Riyadh Region Major Mohammed Al-Hammadi said in a statement today that the Civil Defense Operations Department received a report at 2:00 p.m. that an explosion and subsequent fire had occurred in a restaurant in Granada District in Riyadh. Teams from the Civil Defense and Saudi Red Crescent Authority immediately rushed to the site and began their work, Major Al-Hammadi added.He also said that the incident killed one person and injured 12 others of different nationalities."Preliminary information indicates that the incident was caused by a gas leak which resulted in the explosion and subsequent fire," Major Al-Hammadi said, pointing out that investigations are ongoing.
