GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullateef Al-Zayani applauded the UN decision to name His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as "Humanitarian Leader" and to choose Kuwait as "Humanitarian Center" in recognition of distinguished efforts on philanthropic front regardless of political or personal considerations.
Al-Zayani told KUNA, Tuesday, that this event is "historical" and be-fitting to a generous leader who has dedicated himself to support and help the needy through humanitarian projects in many parts of the world.
Bestowing this title upon His Highness the Amir is an appreciation to all his efforts in alleviating the suffering of victims of natural and man-made disasters, he added.
He pointed out that by giving him this title, Kuwait has also gained a higher ground among world countries; hence, it was well-deserving to choose this gulf country as a "Humanitarian Center."
