The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab Countries expressed deep concern about the report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria of the aggravation of the Syrian crisis and the deteriorating of human rights and humanitarian situation, in light of the ongoing violations and crimes being committed by the Syrian regime and its cronies, and their dangerous repercussions against civilians in a flagrant violation of the principles of human rights and the international humanitarian law, resulted in continuous increasing in numbers of displaced people and refugees inside Syria and in neighboring countries.
Saudi Press Agency, SPA, said the GCC expressed its concern in a joint statement delivered today by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Faisal Trad, before the Human Rights Council during the interactive dialogue with the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria.
In the statement, Ambassador Trad stressed that the international community's delay in resolving the conflict in Syria caused the murder of more than 400,000 people, and the displacement of millions, and also the possibility of the movement of its effects to neighboring countries that may create a situation of instability and chaos.
