Giza Governor Khalid Zakaria ordered on Thursday paying 20,000 pounds in compensation to families of each deceased victim in Warraq boat crash.
Each injured will get 5,000 pounds.
At least 16 people were killed and four others injured when a barge collided with a Nile boat carrying a number of passengers celebrating an engagement ceremony in the Warraq city in Giza, causing the boat to smash and capsize.
The wounded were discharged from hospitals, except for one case suffering from a nervous breakdown.
Zakaria promised to take a firm action towards the violating ferries.
He further ordered finalizing the burial permits for the deceased as soon as possible.
Earlier in the day, Giza Attorney General Ahmed Beqly decided to keep in custody the captain of the barge that was responsible for the capsize of the Nile boat.
The driver and three of his aides will remain in custody for four days pending investigations over charges of manslaughter and river transport violations.
