Giza governorate has signed a cooperation protocol with the Slum Development Fund, which is affiliated to the Cabinet, to develop six slum areas in the governorate.
Giza Governor Kamal el Daly and Housing Minister Mostafa Madbouli signed the protocol.
The infrastructure in the six slum areas will be also developed along with the road pavement and lighting, Daly said.
All services related to health and education will also be provided, he added.
The housing minister, meanwhile, said that the move came as part of efforts to solve the slum areas problem.
"We aim to eradicate slum areas nationwide within two years and a half," he added.
Local Development Minister Ahmed Zaki Badr, meanwhile, said that all slum areas throughout Egypt will be eradicated through short-term, medium-term and long-term plans.
