The camp that sheltered the terrorist group, during the execution of the French hostage, Herve Gourdel last September, has been demolished and the equipment has been recovered, said Thursday the Ministry of National Defence in a communiqué.
"The camp that sheltered the terrorist group, when they perpetrated their despicable act, has been demolished and the equipment that was in their possession has been recovered," said the communiqué.
A massive search and combing operation was launched by the People's National Army (ANP) following the abduction of the French national on 21 September with the "mobilization of all the necessary means to find and overpower the terrorist group that perpetrated the appalling act," said the communiqué.
In its first phase, "this operation allowed the Army forces to find the place where the French terrorist was abducted on the heights of Djurdjura mount in the province of Tizi Ouzou (103-km east of Algiers)," said the source.
The Army has reiterated its determination and commitment to chasing these "criminals" until their complete elimination, and said that the search and combing operation is still underway.
