Prime Minister's Adviser for Election Affairs General Refaat Qomsan asserted that the government was fully committed to directives of Abdel Fattah El Sisi regarding the parliamentary elections that were held in a transparent and fair atmosphere.

At a press conference held at the premises of the State Information Service (SIS), General Qomsan said the government has presented all kinds of assistance to the Higher Election Committee from 'the phase of preparations for holding the elections till the declaration of final results.

He also pointed out that the Ministry of Interior devised a comprehensive plan to secure the elections all over the country and prevent any riots or incidents that could affect the process.

The official also cited the contribution of the Defense Ministry in securing the balloting process and polling stations and transporting the judges to their work locations.

He also praised the efforts exerted by the Foreign Ministry to hold elections of Egyptians abroad.

Qomsan said that the ratio of participation in elections reached 23 percent in all the election stages, noting that they are close to the international standards all over the world which range from 25 to 30 percent.

He said elections were held in stable political conditions, a matter which helped make the voting rates reach normal levels.
