Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Atti has asserted that Halayeb and Shalateen are part of Egypt's territories.
In an interview over the phone with Al-Qahira Al-Youm Satellite channel late Wednesday, Abdel Atti urged the Egyptian and Sudanese media to stop tackling this issue in order not to spark sedition between the two states.
He also stressed Egypt's sovereignty over its territories.
Abdel Atti remarks were made in response to reports that Sudan's National Elections Commission announced that it will annex Halayeb and Shalateen to Sudanese voting districts by mid-September, in preparation for the 2015 elections.(MENA)
