A delegation of the Islamic Palestinian movement Hamas arrived in the Egyptian capital on Sunday to take part in expected talks on prospects of enforcing a viable truce in embattled Gaza.
Security sources said the Hamas six-man delegation, headed by politburo member Izzat Al-Rashaq, came by air from Qatar.
The delegation will be part of a broader team, headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, tasked with discussing means of ceasing fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Israel, on Saturday, indicated it has no desire to dispatch a team of negotiators to Cairo to be involved in the talks and efforts, spearheaded by Cairo to halt the fighting and reconcile the conflict between Palestinian factions in Gaza and Israel.
Egypt has proposed "an initiative" to halt the violence and Hamas has linked any truce to lifting the siege on Gaza.
