The Head of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) Mohamed Faek underlined that the handicapped issue is a societal issue in the first place.
Paying attention to the disabled is necessary for the welfare of the whole society, he noted, adding that it is important to merge them in the society to take part in achieving its prosperity.
These remarks came during Faek's speech delivered at the inauguration of a workshop organized by the NCHR about "the right of the handicapped to be merged during various educational stages".
The work shop was organized on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Faek underlined the need to provide equal educational opportunities to the handicapped regardless to their disabilities in the framework of building the society so as to respect human rights.
The workshop tackled the challenges facing the disabled in educational stages, means of overcoming it and the role of the Education Ministry concerning this regard.
