Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghafar issued an order Friday to assign the current head of the Egyptian pilgrimage mission to follow up the situation in the holy lands and conditions of Egyptian pilgrims after a crane accident.
The order was issued after dozens were reported killed while many others were injured when a crane fell in Mecca's Holy mosque.
In a statement, the ministry said the policemen who are accompanying the mission, are assigned to meet all needs of the Egyptian pilgrims.
Earlier, a crane fell in the Holy Mosque in Mecca due to heavy rains killing about 65 people and injuring more than 100 others.
