The Houthi's Ansar Allah group said Saturday some of its armed men held Ahmad Awadh bin Mubarak, head of the Presidential Office and Secretary General of the National Dialogue conference, in captivity.
Arresting bin Mubarak "is a necessary step to prevent any bid to thwart any coup attempt on the peace and partnership agreement signed among the different political prties, the Houthi Group and the South Movement," the group's Popular Committees said in a statement.
The group justified its move to what it considered "violations in the draft constitution" thus in breach of the peace and partnership agreement and outcome of the national dialogue.
It called on President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to realize "how critical the situation is so he will not act as an umbrella for forces of corruption and crime."
