The Houthi group Tuesday rejected Yemeni President Abdrabou Mansour Hadi's initiative that aimed at addressing the country's political crisis.
Mohammad Abdulsalam, spokesman of Ansar Allah group, affiliated to the Houthis, said the group rejected the initiative.
He said the group "supports the Yemeni people who went out in their blessed popular revolution to seek their legitimate and just rights." Hadi, in his initiative, suggested forming a national unity government, including all political forces, to ensure efficiency, transparency and national partnership.
It, however, gives the president the right to appoint ministers of defense, interior, foreign affairs and finance.
Abdulsalam said the initiative was an attempt to "avoid the demands of the Yemeni people." Hadi also said that a new government must reconsider and introduce reforms to monetary, economic and political policies.
The initiative called on Houthis to put an end to their protests and sit-ins in and outside the capital and to help the government control all governorates including Amran Governorate.
It urged Houthis to accept and participate in the upcoming national government.
