The Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center has denied news posted on a number of websites pertaining to the mandatory evacuation of Sinai residents.
The news is baseless, the IDSC said in a report Monday, stressing that what is taking place there is an operation to secure the eastern border of Egypt.
Only residents on the border line are being evacuated, the IDSC said, adding a buffer zone will be established to protect Egypt against terrorism.
The Cabinet has agreed with residents of houses on the border line on compensations, the IDSC said.
As many as 802 houses on the border line with Gaza have been evacuated, the IDSC said, stressing the houses are built on state-owned lands.
