The Islamophobia Monitoring Observatory at Egypt's Dar al Ifta' Tuesday warned against Daesh's expansion in Libya and efforts to control its oil crescent area particularly after taking control of Ben Jawad City and strenuous attempts to capture Sedra town, home to a key oil harbor in central Libya.
A statement released by the observatory said controlling oil-rich areas in Libya is a key aim for Daesh especially after having targeted oil areas in Syria and Iraq and attempts to find sources of income to cover its military activities and recruit new fighters.
Libya's geographical position near Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad where Boko Haram is present is an additional advantage to the group as it provides military and human support to confront the legitimate government in Libya, the statement added.
