
Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim has approved a police reshuffle, MENA learned oThursday.
In exclusive statements to MENA, Assistant Interior Minister for Media Affairs Abdel Fattah Othman said the movement included 19 assistants interior minister, 13 security chiefs, 56 director generals, 12 criminal investigation directors and 3,553 police officers.
"As many as 518 major generals, colonels and brigadiers were referred to retirement," Othman said.
He added that policemen's wishes and social and health needs were taken into consideration when carrying out the reshuffle to help them assume their role effectively.
The reshuffle includes security chiefs of Port Said, Dakhilia, Beheira, Suez, Aswan, Qena, Beni Suef Luxor, South Sinai and North Sinai, he added.
Othman noted that officers can file complaints for five days, starting from Friday.
