The Iraqi presidency, parliament and cabinet mourned on Friday the death of Saudi King Abdallah Bin Abdel Aziz, who passed away at the age of 90 earlier in the day after being hospitalized for weeks.
Iraqi President Fuad Masum sent a condolences message to new Saudi King Salman Bin Abdel Aziz and the people of Saudi Arabia over the death of the Saudi monarch.
He also wished Saudi Arabia more stability and prosperity under the new ruler's reign.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi, meanwhile, mourned the death of the late Saudi king.
Also, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim al Jabouri expressed sympathy with the people of Saudi Arabia on the death of King Abdallah.
"The late king's anti-extremism stances cannot be forgotten," Jabouri said, adding that he would lead a high-level delegation of the Iraqi parliament to Saudi Arabia to participate in the funeral procession.
