The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine on Tuesday rejected the Egyptian initiative for a ceasefire between the Palestinian factions in Gaza and Israel, as Israeli jets intensified raids over various areas of the Gaza Strip.
The movement said in a statement they had told the Egyptian side that they did not accept the initiative which "does not meet the needs of our people or the conditions of the resistance which was not consulted over it".
The Islamic Jihad said, however, it appreciates any efforts seeking a stop of "the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people".
Meanwhile, Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, and Izz-Eddine Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas military wing, said in a joint statement that they had targeted Tel Aviv with rockets, Buraq 70 and M70. They also launched 6 grad rockets targeting Ashdod and Netivot.
In the meantime, medics said that a Palestinian called Ismail Fatouh, 25, was killed in an Israeli shelling near a mosque in Al-Zeitoun district, south-east of Gaza. Fatouh is the second Palestinian in Gaza Israel killed today after it resumed shelling of the Strip accusing Hamas of carrying on with rocket firing.
Two other Palestinians in the Strip were injured in a raid by an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft in El-Shoja'ia district. Other two raids hit a farmland east of Gaza and similar ones targeted two separate areas of Deir El-Balah, but no injuries were reported.
Rafah, in southern Gaza, was struck by raids that hit free areas, causing no injuries.
Medical sources in the Strip said that the toll of Palestinians killed by Israel's fire hit 195 people, while 1480 others were injured.
