The Islamic Sharia guarantees rights for all people and does not differentiate between human beings, affirmed Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawki Allam.
Speaking on the sidelines of the conference on safeguarding the rights of religious minorities in Muslim countries, which kicked off today in Marrakesh, Allam said that Islam calls for equality, social justice and respect for human life.
Not only is peaceful coexistence guaranteed for non-Muslims under Islam, but also they are, moreover, given the right to practice their religions quite freely, he affirmed.
The aim of this conference is to reaffirm the rights of religious minorities through releasing a new declaration rooted in Islamic Law emphasizing on protection of non-Muslims groups within an Islamic community.
