The Islamophobia Observatory of Darul-Ifta warned of attempts by a number of Western journals to distort the term of 'martyr' in describing terrorists, who blow themselves up, after committing their terror operations.
In a statement Monday, the observatory said that it spotted that one of the French journals identified as "La Revue pour L'Intelligence du Mond" and issued in January 2016 used the word "Shahid" and wrote it in French letters as "Chahid" for those who blow themselves up.
The observatory warned the danger of describing the terrorists who blow themselves up as martyrs.
It also urged the various religious and academic institutions in the Islamic world to respond to these attempts and reveal the sublime degree of the martyr, who dies in defense of his homeland and religion.
