The joint Arab League and Sudanese government mechanism held its 29th meeting on Sunday in Cairo to follow up the pledges made during an Arab conference addressing the humanitarian issues of Sudan.
Sudanese Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Abdel Mahmoud Abdel Halim said the meetings of the joint mechanism were a great chance to follow up the humanitarian situation in Sudan generally and in Darfur particularly.
The event had tackled the projects ratified during the Arab conference but still require funding for their implementation, he said.
The mechanism will tour a number of Arab countries to urge them to fulfill their financial pledges to improve humanitarian conditions in Darfur and Sudan, he added.
The outcome of the mechanism meeting will be submitted to the next Arab League Council meeting to be held at the foreign ministers' level in September in Cairo, Abdel Halim said.
