Jordan takes part in Arab police, security conference in Tunisia

Jordan participated in the 38th conference of Arab police chiefs which opened in Tunisia on Wednesday in coordination with the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
The conference was attended by Arab senior security officials as well as representatives of the Arab League, Arab Human Rights Commission, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Arab Police Sports Confederation, the Arab Tourism Organization, the International Police Organization (Interpol) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The head of Jordan's delegation, Director of the Public Security Department (PSD) General Tawfiq Tawalbeh, told Petra that the conference is being held in light of rapid developments related to the work of police and security at the international and regional levels, especially in terms of deploying modern technology in policing operations and challenges posed by the lack of security and stability in many countries in the world.
Tunisian Interior Minister, Lotfi Ben Jeddo, outlined his country's keenness on countering terrorism, which remains a top priority, through cooperation and bilateral and multilateral agreements.
The two-day event is set to discuss a number of important topics, mainly drafting an Arab plan to boost the culture of human rights in security field as well as a plan to develop security services.
