Jordan urges pan-Islamic position on Gaza

Foreign minister Nasser Judeh on Tuesday called for a pan-Islamic approach and pooling the nation's (ummah) resources to stop the vicious Israeli aggression against Gaza as an urgent priority and protect the Palestinian people from killings and destruction unleashed by Israel.
In remarks at an emergency ministerial meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, chaired by Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Prince Saud Al Faisal, Judeh said Israel was targeting civilians, children, women and the elderly in violation of international human law.
He said Jordan, which is closely attached to the Palestinians and their just cause, would spare no effort to protect their rights and use all its resources to defend them against "this vicious assault." Judeh said Jordan, through coordination with Arab countries, was pushing for a resolution it had drafted at the United Nations Security Council, calling for an immediate ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and lifting the blockade on the coastal enclave.
The minister also said collective efforts were needed at all levels to provide urgent aid to Gaza and respond to appeals by U.N. agencies working there, such as UNRWA, adding that Jordan was sending all forms of relief aid to Gaza to ease the plight of its people.
