The Senate and the Lower House of Parliament held Israel fully responsible for the failure of peace efforts, for refusing to implement international resolutions, and slammed it for continuation of settlement construction as well as the unjust blockade of Gaza
In a joint statement issued on Monday, the two chambers thanked all friendly countries and their parliaments, mainly those that decided to recognize the Palestinian state. They also urged other countries to follow suit as an active and constructive contribution to put an end to the conflict and bring about peace and stability to all the region's peoples.
The statement stressed the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in line with international resolutions and consensus to find a just and comprehensive solution to the decades-long conflict that reflected negatively on all the region's countries and brought instability, violence, extremism and terrorism to the region.
The Parliament urged all peace loving nations to work to end the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, lift the blockade on Gaza, and enable the Palestinians to regain their rights and establish their independent state.
"A just, permanent and comprehensive solution requires an end to the occupation of Arab lands occupied in 1967, without which the region will not enjoy security and stability," the statement said, adding that the only means to fight extremism and violence was through reaching a just end to the conflict in line with the international law.
