Anti Narcotics Department personnel on Monday seized 300,000 narcotic pills that an Arab national intended to smuggle into his own country by scheming with a group of people, the Public Security Department (PSD) said in a statement.
The PSD had received information about an Arab national's intentions to visit Jordan and purchase large quantities of narcotic pills and smuggle them back to his country. Upon his arrival, a special investigative team began tracking his movements to validate the information, the statement said.
The PSD added that the team observed the suspect's movements and found him communicating with many others. The team was certain that this person had received large quantities of narcotic pills and sent them to a metal workshop in Amman where these were stored.
The team discovered that the person had concealed the pills inside cylinders and began shipping them through a shipping company. Therefore, the team raided the workshop, apprehended the person and seized 300,000 narcotic pills.
According to the statement, another team had arrested four suspects, two of them Arab nationals involved with the main suspect and guilty of providing him with the contraband and helped him in concealing it.
