His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed the need, on Sunday, to continue to improve the performance of government programs and institutions to provide better services to citizens to meet their needs and hopes.
The King's remarks came during a visit Sunday to the Prime Ministry, during which he presided over part of the cabinet meeting and was briefed on the government's programs and ventures. The King remarked, "The most important is how to deliver these programs to the citizens, to make them feel their dividends as soon as possible".
He pointed out that the public is always looking forward to improving the level and quality of services provided by government entities, especially executive departments that deal daily with citizens, which requires the need to improve the capacity of these departments and their employees.
His Majesty also called to promote the government's communications with citizens throughout the country and become part of the government's approach to deal with people, which requires ministers and officials "to get out of their offices and go down to the field".
Further, the King signaled the government to complete the e-government program, which contributes to responding to the needs of the people, businesses and private sector, along with upgrading the level of services.
His Majesty noted, "There are challenges ahead, there are programs and plans we are committed to, and will have a positive impact in 2015".
During the meeting, the King noted that the success of ventures and programs depends upon strengthening the partnership between the three branches of government and various stakeholders, indicating that the cooperation and coordination of the government with Parliament is very important, especially the government's programs that concern its citizens.
With regard to local development projects, emphasis was placed on the importance of the government taking the necessary measures to ensure the success of the decentralization scheme as a national project that contributes to accelerating achievements in various fields.
Also tackled at today's meeting was the national strategy to fight extremism, which is being implemented by the government's various bodies.
