
Jordanian King Abdullah II on Monday held a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss a number of Middle East issues and efforts to fight terrorism and extremism, Petra reported.
The talks dealt with the ongoing crisis in Syria. In this context, the King emphasized that the international community was required to step up its efforts to find a comprehensive solution to the war in Syria and end the suffering of the Syrian people.
They also discussed means to revive Israel-Palestinian peace negotiations in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
On Jordanian-US ties, the King said Jordan appreciates the support the US extends to the Kingdom to help it press ahead with its development drive and ease off pressures arising from regional upheaval.
Kerry stressed Washington's support to Jordan which he said played a pivotal role in key regional issues. He commended efforts spearheaded by King Abdullah II to address regional and global challenges.
He said his country remained committed to working with all stakeholders to support peacemaking efforts in the Middle East.
