Jordanian King Abdullah II
Amman - KUNA

King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed regional and international efforts being taken to tackle the threat of terrorist and extremist groups with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi on Sunday.
They both stressed support of the international coalition - which Jordan is a part of - that is tackling Islamic extremists across both Iraq and Syria, who, they said, threaten the safety and security of every single nation in the region.
After meetings held one-on-one and accompanied by officials, King Abdullah reiterated his nation's complete support of the Iraqis in their bid to bolster the security and stability of Iraq, according to a Royal Court statement.
Jordan stands by Iraq for the sake of helping it regain its unity and achieve harmony, according to democracy and diversity, between its various components, he said.
On Syria, they together stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution there that ensures the unity of the country's territory and people.
For his part, the Iraqi premier was quoted as hailing relations with Jordan, describing the country as a "close and supportive neighbor." He also praised appreciation of Jordan's supportive role of Iraq "in difficult circumstances." Al-Abadi arrived in Jordan on an official one-day visit, during which he met his counterpart Abdullah Ensour.
