The "Journey of Hope" expedition Sunday sailed from Al-Dammam seaport, West Saudi Arabia, returning to Kuwait after concluding its global tour aimed at bringing attention of the world to suffering of people with mental disabilities.
The Kuwaiti team was seen off by diplomats and military personnel at the Kuwaiti Embassy here, in addition to a gathering of kuwaitis and Saudis.
The journey route, which started in kuwait early May and would conclude on Monday, included 25 ports in the United States of America and Europed beside the Arabian Gulf.
The journey's idea originated from a group of parents who have had successful experiences with their children suffering Down Syndrome, autism and other mental cases.
This group includes Jassim Al-Rasheed, father of swimming champion Meshaal Al-Rasheed and Bady Al-Dosari, father of Khaled who suffers from autism.
They came up with a plan to launch around-the-world marine tour, called the "Journey of Hope," to raise awareness and promote positive experiences at this level and show the world Kuwait's expertise in caring for the mentally disabled.
