
The ferryboat that sank in the Nile River in Kafr el Sheikh on Thursday is not owned by the Transport Ministry, said a well-placed official on Friday.
In statements earlier in the day, head of the River Transport Authority Reda Ismail said that the ferryboat had no license.
On Thursday, a ferryboat carrying 17 people sank in the Nile River in Kafr el Sheikh, leaving 15 dead, while two were rescued.
The ferry was transferring people between two towns in Kafr el Sheikh and Behaira governorates when the accident occurred.
