The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, KF, has distributed over 16,000 relief food baskets to the fraternal people of Somalia in four Somali governorates.
The gestre is in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan with the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Foundation.
The aid coincides with the "For You, Somalia" Campaign launched to implement the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed to support the Somali people in overcoming dire living conditions and rallying help for those affected by the drought. It is also in accordance with the Year of Giving initiative and seeks to enhance the UAE's humanitarian role and message to address the drought crisis in Somalia. The assistance included basic food stuff and water as well as a number of personal items.
The KF relief team embarked on its mission with the distribution of thousands of food baskets to the victims of the drought that hit wide areas in Somalia. Sources from the Foundation said that the aid reflects the keenness of the prudent leadership to reduce the suffering of the Somali people. The KF team, in co-operation with competent Somali authorities, has overseen the distribution of food items to underprivileged families, they informed.
In his remarks to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Ahmed Morsi Mohammed, Member of the Relief Committee in Burao District, said, "The Somali people will not forget the UAE’s stance through the distribution of basic food stuff that helped alleviate the burdens of the drought, which had bad repercussions on the agricultural and livestock fields."
He thanked President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, hailing his directives to support the Somali people.
