President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law amending some provisions of Law No.19 for year 2006, concerning the regulation of taxis in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Under this law, the name "The Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars (TransAD)" has been replaced with "Integrated Transport Centre." The newly created centre will enjoy an independent, and full civil legal personality to act. It reports to the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transportation.
The centre will be the competent authority in the emirate to engage in public transport, parking management, traffic control centres, weigh stations, and logistics facilities earmarked for land transport of goods, according to the approved transport plans.
The law prohibits engaging in any of the activities of the centre without its permission. The law also stipulates that an authorised person should act within limits of the permission granted.
