Kuwait Credit Bank (formerly the Kuwait Credit and Savings Bank) said here on Saturday it has hammered out a deal with the Public Authority for Special Needs Affairs to offer people with disability better benefits for a decent life.
The deal was signed by the directors-general of the bank and the authority Salah Al-Modhaf and Tareq Al-Shatti respectively.
Under the agreement, people with disabilities can get several advantages and benefits, primarily two maximum payments of KD 20,000 if the family has more than one handicapped person, Salah Al-Modhaf said in a press statement.
He voiced pleasure that the agreement would see the light just a couple of weeks ahead of world celebrations marking the International Day of People with Disability, which falls on December 3.
The recent benefits to people with disability reflect the Kuwaiti government's unshakable and enduring commitment to providing people with special needs with all requirements for a decent life.
In this context, Al-Modhaf pointed to instructions to the staff of all branches of the Kuwait Credit Bank to answer the needs of all people with special needs in a fast and reliable manner.
The International Day of People with Disability is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been celebrated with varying degrees of success around the planet.
The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
It was originally called "International Day of Disabled Persons".
