The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is stiffening sudden traffic measures against growing encroachments upon car parking lots allocated for people with special needs, a senior MoI official said here on Monday.
The campaign, which mainly targets car parking lots at cooperative societies, malls and markets nationwide, is primarily intended to oblige people to respect the full rights and freedom of people with disabilities, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Traffic Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Muhanna said in a news statement.
The allocation of car parks for people with special needs is a right enshrined in law and encroachments upon their lots make them unable to make use of their respective services, Al-Muhanna regretted.
Measures to be taken against violators include the impoundment of vehicles and withdrawal of driving and car licenses, not to mention fines, the security official cautioned.
