The cabinet underscored Monday the importance of the recently passed unlicensed firearms and ammunition collection law to enhance the state security and urged all people to cooperate with security agencies to put it in place.
The cabinet stressed that the enforcement of this law is a national duty that requires cooperation from everybody to prove successful, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a press statement following the cabinet's weekly meeting which was held under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at Seif Palace.
The cabinet noted that the law aims to bolster national security, stability and secure the safety of citizens and residents, Sheikh Mohammad said, adding that the cabinet also expressed satisfaction with the National Assembly's cooperation to pass this important law.
The cabinet was briefed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah about the main features of the law, especially the provisions related to the guarantees taken to abide by the society tradition during the inspection raids on suspected places or homes.
It approved a draft law on the use of a sophisticated security monitoring system nationwide in order to reduce crime rate, easily arrest criminals and ensure the safety of people, the minister said.
The cabinet endorsed another two draft laws; one on privatization programs and processes and the other for developing arts in the country.
At the advent of the meeting, the cabinet congratulated Kuwaiti people on the ninth anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption to power.
It also extoled the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince and wished them everlasting wellbeing to continue their march to build and develop the state.
Then, the ministers were briefed about a letter sent to His Highness the Amir from the Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi. The letter included an official invitation to His Highness the Amir to attend an international conference to support and develop the Egyptian economy, to be held next March.
They were also informed about the letter sent to His Highness the Amir from the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Ageila Saleh Eissa to congratulate His Highness the Amir on the UN honoring and proclamation of him as a "Humanitarian Leader".
The cabinet also welcomed the Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab's current official visit to Kuwait.
Reviewing the latest Arab developments, the cabinet strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks in Egypt's Sinai and Manama, and offered condolence to Egypt and Bahrain over the victims of these terrorist incidents.
In this context, the cabinet reiterated Kuwait's condemnation of all types and manifestations of terrorism regardless of reasons, voicing confidence that Bahrain and Egypt would be able to face such criminal acts that only target their security and stability.
