Kuwait on Monday welcomed the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution on Yemen, adopted on April 14 under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, and expressed relief over the decision. This was announced during the weekly cabinet meeting today.
The cabinet said the State of Kuwait appreciates the resolution as a strong obvious message affirming credibility of the international community in assuming its responsibility toward legitimacy, and world security and peace.
The cabinet added that Kuwait "reaffirms its stance and full support to existing efforts by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to support international legitimacy and maintain stability, security and peace for peoples of the region." It also renewed the country's commitment to supporting Yemeni people and the efforts by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to preserve the country's unity and sovereignty, appealing to all Yemeni parties to guarantee the full implementation of the resolution, and back the international community.
