Kuwaiti Ambassador to Austria and Delegate to the UN organizations Sadiq Marafi praised the efforts of the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby in supporting the League's delegation in Vienna.
Marafi, also Chairman of the Arab Ambassadors Council, hailed Al-Araby's continuous contact with the Council, in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday, after concluding his visit to Cairo where he participated in the meeting of Arabs specialized in cases of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction last week.
Marafi presented the activities of the Council to the high-level officials committee for nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction, while also showcasing the preparations of the Arab group in Vienna for the upcoming 58th session of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting from September 22 to 26.
The Ambassador said his meeting with Al-Araby in Cairo discussed the efforts of the Arab group to support issues of mutual concern for all Arab states, and present them to the UN organizations, mainly the (IAEA).
The committee had invited Marafi to participate in its meeting held on August 6 and 7. The IAEA's 58th session will discuss nuclear safety and security, the international agreements on using nuclear power for peace-related issues and cooperation in the fields of health, environment and water availability.
Meanwhile, the IAEA announced last month that it had added the issue of Israeli nuclear power to the meeting's agenda, which was previously requested by the Arab group.
