Kuwait's ambassador in Rome Sheikh Ali Al-Khalid Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday welcomed the Kuwaiti "Journey of Hope" team visiting Italy this week as part of a noble humanitarian mission seeking to highlight the issue of the mentally disabled people.
Ambassador Al-Khalid held a banquette for the team, led by mission executive director Youssef Al-Jassem and head of the cruise team Jassem Al-Badr. The embassy organized a cultural tour for the team members to the historical landmarks in the Italian capital.
Al-Jassem and Al-Badr briefed the ambassador on the aims of the mission, and thanked the embassy for the rich program prepared for them in Italy. The cruise stopped in Livorno port, north of Italy, on August 16, and will then proceed to Palermo in the south to arrive there on August 21. The mission is due to leave Palermo on August 25.
For his part, Sheikh Ali Al-Khalid expressed appreciation for the "Journey of Hope" unique mission, which highlights Kuwait's contribution to the international efforts, especially that have human dimensions, and stressed support by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in that respect.
The initiative of the "Joureny of Hope" is an unprecedented mission and an achievement that deserves to enter the Guinness World Records, ambassador Ali Al-Khalid said, referring to his own voluntary work in the 1980s when he accompanied the Kuwaiti team for people with special needs in the Special Olympics held in England. He also delivered to the mission greetings by the head of the Italian National Olympic Committee Giovanni Malago for the achievements of the Kuwaiti athletes with special needs.
