
Information Minister Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah Sunday said the state is keen on culture of children and teenagers, implementing recommendations of the political leadership foremost His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
This came during the opening of Children Cultural Festival by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), under the auspices of Sheikh Salman Sabah in Abdulaziz Hussein Cultural Center in Mishref Area.
Sheikh Salman, also Minister of State for Youth Affairs, pointed out that culture is important to children "on which loyalty to the homeland is built." He added that the NCCAL prepares studies for evaluating care of children and teenagers nationwide, and developing such studies with the help of professionals and academic specialists in cooperation with governmental institutions responsible for upbringing and guidance. He lauded the opening play and the message it conveyed.
For his part, The Assistant Secretary General of NCCAL Mohammad Al-Asousi said in a press statement that the festival stressed that the NCCAL continue to offering activities and festivals over the year.
Al-Asousi stressed that the festival represents an important period in the activities of the NCCAL which supports provision of cultural items for children in summer vacation in the fields of theater, music and different arts in addition to training workshops.
For his part, NCCAL's Assistant Secretary General for Cultural Affairs Bader Al-Duweeh said that the festival would run until August 21 and include different activities for children and teenagers, which aim at exploiting leisure of children in summer vacation.
The festival included a theater performance entitled "Amina" which was written and produced by Mohammad Al-Hmely. It was played by a group of young artists.
