Kuwaiti MoI renames GDI

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah issued Wednesday a ministerial resolution to change the name of General Department of Immigration (GDI) to General Department of Residence Affairs.
Also under this resolution, the departments of immigration in all provinces nationwide are to be replaced by the departments of residence affairs.
The ministry's department of information security said in a press statement Wednesday that the resolution also include the establishment of a technical bureau department to be affiliated to the General Department of Citizenship and Travel Documents (GDCTC).
The statement said that the resolution sets special conceptions of required needs of manpower according to the annual plan of the GDCTC and in consultation with concerned parties at the ministry.
Preparing the budget of the GDCTC and referring it to the general manager were also included in the resolution.
